The Vietnam War was a the most divisive wars in U.S. history. During the war, the U.S. lost over 58,000 men and women in the attempt to stop the spread of Viatnamese nationalism. The cost of the war reach a staggering $925 billion. The U.S. spent nearly $115 billion to defeat Northern Vietnam. The Vietnam war occured between 1959 and april 30th 1975. It Involved the northern part ( the comunnists ) and its allies against the southern goverment and the U.S. Almost 3 million U.S. men and women were sent thousands of miles to fight for what was a questionable cause. This war was the longest american war in history. To support the South Vietnam government, the United States sent in 2,000 military advisors, a number that grew to 16,300 in 1963.
